FAQs

For what you need to know

Not at all — in fact, it costs less. When you book through TMP and use our code at checkout, you receive a 10% discount on your class, and 10% of your booking is donated to the Sir John Kirwan Foundation for mental health fundraising. Both happen simultaneously, at no extra cost to you. This is central to everything we stand for: making Pilates more accessible, lowering the barrier to entry, and proving that doing good and feeling good are not mutually exclusive.

Does booking through The Movement Project cost more because of the charitable donation?

Which studios can I book through The Movement Project?

2

TMP currently partners with Reform Fitness Commercial Bay in Auckland’s CBD. We are actively expanding our studio network, with more partnerships in the works — so watch this space. Every new studio we bring on board means more people, in more places, can access the TMP experience.

I'm not a man. Can I still book through TMP?

3

Absolutely. While a significant focus of TMP’s mission is encouraging male participation in Pilates — a demographic that has historically been underrepresented — our platform is open to everyone. Pilates is for every body, regardless of gender, background, or ability. That ethos is not just a marketing line but the foundation of everything we do.

Isn't Pilates just for women?

4

This is one of the most common misconceptions in fitness — and dismantling it is exactly why The Movement Project exists. Pilates was originally created by a man named Joseph Pilates who developed the practice to rehabilitate injured male soldiers and athletes in WWI. Pilates builds core strength, improves posture, enhances mobility, supports injury prevention, regulates the nervous system, and so much more. Elite athletes including Cristiano Ronaldo, LeBron James, and the All Blacks incorporate Pilates into their training. It is one of the most effective and complete training methods available for every body.

How old do I need to be to participate?

5

TMP welcomes participants of all ages. Our primary target market spans ages 15 to 60, though Pilates itself is accessible beyond that range. If you are under 16, we recommend checking in with your parent or guardian before booking, and confirming any age-specific requirements directly with the studio. Reform Fitness Commercial Bay can advise on any relevant policies.

None whatsoever. Reform Fitness Commercial Bay offers classes across all experience levels, from complete beginners through to advanced practitioners. Pilates is uniquely adaptable — movements can be modified to suit your current fitness level, any injuries or physical limitations, and your personal goals. Show up as you are, but be sure to let your instructor know of any injuries or queries you may have so they can best support you during your session.

Do I need any prior Pilates experience?

6

The code is MOVE. Enter it at checkout when booking through Reform Fitness Commercial Bay’s booking platform. This will automatically apply your 10% discount and trigger the 10% charitable donation to the Sir John Kirwan Foundation.

What is the promotional code and where do I enter it?

7

If you forget to apply the code at checkout, unfortunately the discount and donation cannot be applied retrospectively. We recommend bookmarking our Bookings page so the steps are always at hand before you confirm a class.

What happens if I forget to enter the code?

8

Cancellation and refund policies are managed directly by the partnering studio. Please refer to Reform Fitness Commercial Bay’s terms and conditions on their website for full details regarding cancellations, transfers, and refunds. TMP is not able to process refunds on behalf of partner studios.

Is my booking refundable?

9

Transparency is important to us. TMP donates 10% of every booking fee received to the Sir John Kirwan Foundation as part of our core business model. You can learn more about the Foundation and the work your contribution supports on our Mental Health page.

11

How do I know my donation is actually going to the Sir John Kirwan Foundation?

Can my studio or brand partner with The Movement Project?

Yes — and we would love to hear from you. TMP is actively seeking new studio partnerships and brand collaborations that align with our mission of universalising Pilates and supporting mental health in New Zealand. Head to our Contact page to get in touch.
